3. Information We Will Require From You
Before we can provide credit assistance, we are required under responsible lending obligations in the National Consumer Credit Protection Act 2009 (Cth) to make reasonable enquiries about your:
- Requirements and objectives for the credit (purpose, term, features)
- Financial situation — income, expenses, assets and liabilities
- Ability to comply with the obligations of the credit contract without substantial hardship
We will also take reasonable steps to verify the information you provide. You must provide accurate and complete information. Providing false or misleading information may result in your application being declined and may constitute an offence under the law.
4. Copies of Our Assessment
Before we provide credit assistance, we will prepare a written preliminary assessment about whether the proposed credit contract will be “not unsuitable” for you. You have the right to request a copy of that assessment at any time within 7 years of the date we provided the credit assistance.
We will provide the assessment to you free of charge within the timeframes required by law:
- Within 7 business days if you request it within 2 years of the date we provided the credit assistance
- Within 21 business days if you request it between 2 and 7 years after that date
We do not need to provide the assessment if the credit contract is not ultimately entered into.
5. Fees Payable By You To Us
We may charge you an origination fee of up to $2,500 (including GST) for the credit assistance we provide. This fee is only payable if and when your loan settles. If your loan does not settle, no fee is payable by you to us.
The exact amount of the fee will be disclosed to you in a Credit Proposal Disclosure Document before you accept any credit offer, so you can consider it as part of your decision.
6. Fees Payable To Third Parties
In addition to our origination fee, the credit provider you choose may charge fees directly, such as:
- Application or establishment fees
- Monthly or annual account-keeping fees
- Valuation or inspection fees (where a valuation is required)
- Government charges (such as PPSR registration fees or stamp duty, where applicable)
- Break, early termination or discharge fees (where applicable)
All third-party fees applicable to your specific contract will be disclosed to you in writing by the credit provider before you sign the contract.
7. Commissions Received By Us
We typically receive commissions from credit providers when a loan we have assisted with is settled. These commissions may include an upfront commission (a percentage of the amount financed) and a trailing commission (a smaller ongoing percentage over the life of the loan). The amount of commission varies by credit provider and product. We will disclose the likely commission on your specific loan in the Credit Proposal Disclosure Document before you accept any credit offer.
8. Commissions Payable By Us
We may pay commissions or referral fees to third parties who refer customers to us, such as motor vehicle dealers, asset brokers, accountants or introducers. Any such commission is paid out of the remuneration we receive — it is not an additional cost to you. Where a referrer has introduced you to us, we will disclose the amount or method of calculating the referral fee before we provide credit assistance.
9. Complaints
If you have a complaint about our credit assistance services, we want to hear about it and will work to resolve it quickly. Please contact our internal Complaints Officer in the first instance:
If you are not satisfied with our response, or if we have not responded within 30 days, you may lodge a complaint with the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA). AFCA provides free, fair and independent dispute resolution:

You have the right to:

14. Use of AI and Automated Tools
We use AI-assisted tools and automated systems to help process enquiries, estimate repayments, identify suitable credit products, verify information, and route your application. These tools provide general information only — they do not provide personal credit advice, do not make credit decisions, and any estimates generated are indicative only. A qualified Braid Finance representative assesses every credit application.
To operate these tools, limited information you provide may be processed by third-party AI service providers engaged by us under contract. We strip or mask direct identifiers before content is sent to an AI provider where that content is retained for analysis. Full session transcripts are purged at the end of each session, and only de-identified usage patterns are retained for quality, safety and compliance improvements for up to 12 months. We do not use your personal or credit information to train public or third-party AI models, and we do not send personal information to AI providers located outside Australia for retention except where the provider is contractually bound by Australian Privacy Principles-equivalent protections.
You may at any time request that your enquiry or application be handled by a human representative instead of using AI-assisted tools, and you may withdraw your consent to AI processing by contacting us on 07 3733 3189 or by emailing info@braidfinance.com.au. Declining AI-assisted tools will not affect your ability to apply for credit.
15. Electronic Communication Consent
By providing us with your email address and mobile number, you consent to us communicating with you electronically (including by email, SMS and secure messaging) in relation to your enquiry, your application and any resulting credit contract. You also consent to us providing disclosures, notices and documents electronically, including contracts and privacy notices, where permitted by law. You may withdraw this consent at any time by contacting us, in which case we will communicate with you by post.
16. Marketing
From time to time we may use your contact details to let you know about products, services or offers that may be relevant to you. You can opt out of marketing communications at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email, replying STOP to any marketing SMS, or contacting us on 07 3733 3189 or info@braidfinance.com.au. Opting out of marketing will not affect essential communications about your application or any existing credit contract.
17. Acknowledgement

You confirm the information you provide is true and complete to the best of your knowledge, and you consent to Braid Finance and its credit representatives collecting, using and disclosing your personal and credit information for the purposes described in this document.
